Press Release :
SERIOUSLY GETTING A ‘GRIPPAGE’ ON NEW MEXICO FILM INDUSTRY
EDUCATING TO FILL JOB POSITIONS DIRECT FROM NEW MEXICO HIGH SCHOOLS
ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO –
Holy Smokes: Project Film (HSPF) Founders, Pony Vigil of Thunderbird Group, Stone Soop, Ntv Music, and Nadine Nagamatsu of Renaissance Woman are bringing a film training program to New Mexico Public High Schools. Bernalillo High School is hosting the HSPF pilot program by integrating film into their curriculum.
Holy Smokes: Project Film is designed to utilize every department in the public education system to be a part of a film studio. For example, the Culinary Arts Program develops the skills a student could use for Kraft Services (providing cooked food on set.) Construction or carpentry translates to building a set, and Art Class teaches skills necessary for set design; English classes can guide script writing.
The goal of the program is to fill the deficit of 10,000 job positions in the New Mexico Film Industry. By developing this program, we will train film instructors within the schools to better equip the educators, on film-set ethics, etiquette, technical training, and other skills necessary for working on set and creating job opportunities, such as joining the 480 Film Union for their graduating students.
The Holy Smokes Project film program will benefit both the individual and the wider community.
Senator Derrick Lente, NM Dist.65, had the idea to bring the HSPF pilot program to Bernalillo High School. With the support of many NM Film Industry professionals, including the NM Film Office, Serious Grippage & Lighting, The Loan Fund, American Indian Chamber of Commerce, and the staff of Bernalillo High School.
We invite the press to view the HSPF pilot program in action: Tuesday, January will14th 9:00 am-11:00 am at Bernalillo High School: 250 Isidora Sanchez, Bernalillo, NM 87004.For More information and additional Press Kit, contact Nadine Nagamatsu at 917-509-3752 or email at
